Biography:

Kevin Fong is an anaesthetist at University College Hospital London and a pre-hospital physician with Kent Surrey Sussex Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) and Honorary Chair of Public Engagement for Science and Medicine at University College London. He holds degrees in Astrophysics, Medicine and Engineering and has worked with NASA’s human space exploration programme at Johnson Space Center in Houston. His special interest, in the fields of risk management, human factors, innovation and exploration, stems from his experiences and research with NASA.

At University College London Kevin is an honorary senior lecturer in physiology and
runs an undergraduate course in extreme environment physiology. In 2011 Kevin
became one of the Wellcome Trust’s inaugural Public Engagement Fellows. His first book - about the relationship between medicine, exploration and survival in the 20th Century - is titled Extremes: Life, Death and the Limits of the Human Body.
