Abstract

Aviation medicine has always existed, but the recent recognition of the speciality has introduced a formalised training programme to move it in line with all the other traditional specialities and incorporate Space medicine.

This talk aims to give a trainee's perspective of Aviation and Space Medicine. The curriculum will be outlined, along with the role specific competencies required and how to acquire them. The entry requirements and exit standards will be covered and as well as the the challenges of the speciality. There will be some discussion as to the future direction and potential opportunities to get involved in Space medicine projects.
